Getting Real About Data-Driven Decision Making
If you’ve read the last few editions of our Connected newsletter, you know that I have been on a road trip with my family over the last few weeks. Given all the stops we wanted to make, driving made more sense than flying.
(I needed to remind myself of this before we jumped back in the car for our 1300-mile trip home through our 7-state trek home.)
So, we packed up our minivan with all the necessary supplies to send 4 kids off to summer camp and catch Taylor Swift in Cincinnati, and we hit the road.
During one of my shifts driving, I started thinking about one of our core values at Milemarker: Drivers, Not Passengers.
As the driver of a car, we depend on so much information to be available at our fingertips.
We are paying attention to the GPS (Waze for me) programmed to our next destination to tell us when the next turn is. We loosely watch the speedometer because the last thing we need is a speeding ticket and a 40-minute delay in our trip.
We are paying attention to the fuel gauge to make a strategic decision of which exit to stop at with a (superior and hopefully clean) gas station. We’re making sure none of the dashboard lights come on unexpectedly.
Being the owner of a wealth management company is a lot like driving a car. With an influx of data available from all areas of your business, you’re receiving lots of data begging your attention.
How easily can you understand the information you’re receiving from your data to decide where to spend your time, money, and focus?
Do you find yourself running your firm by the tyranny of the urgent? You’re not alone. It’s easy to only pay attention to the sirens going off and never get to where you can keep the fires from starting.
At Milemarker, we want to change how you see the dashboard of your business.
Things that urgently require your attention will always come up. Those tiny fires are much easier to triage when you’ve been sitting in the driver’s seat, confidently navigating to your destination. Your data can be organized to give you the correct information at the right time to keep your business running smoothly.
The only real question then is, where do you want to go?

Will AI Be Selling Against You Soon?
We’re all used to hearing about (and probably using) ChatGPT by now, but what about an AI Sales Person?
There is a clip floating around Twitter from a new company called Air AI. In the clip, an AI-generated “customer representative” from Tesla Motors engages in a sales conversation with someone interested in buying a new car. Check out the full clip:
I do love that this guy is calling in from Omaha. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the call and your general thinking about AI.
This past week, I joined Aaron Dillon and Nick Fusco on the latest episode of The Pre-IPO Stock Podcast. We talked about all things AI, and how this could affect B2B business and B2C businesses differently.
